Today, when I woke up my heart was energized and sorrowful at the same time because I learned of the death of two great men late last night. Rev. Fred L. Shuttlesworth a Civil Rights Icon, and Co-Founder of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and Steve Jobs, the innovative, vision minded and bold Co-Founder of Apple, home of the iPhone, iPod and iPad and other innovative products.
As I read Tweets and Facebook post honoring these legendary Icons coming home from church last night, I was motivated and energized. Immediately, I begin to examine my life, leadership, loyalty, and legacy. The questions of am I “Mr. Productivity” being productive enough? How am I affecting the lives of others? What am I doing to help those around me to develop and effectively “Live to Produce?” Does my walk match my talk? These are just a few questions that begin racing through my head. I often say “ You are not living unless you are living to produce.” These great men were agents of change effectively living to produce in the earth. Are we making or wasting time? Time waits for no one, and life is too short to live in limbo. Rev. Shuttlesworth was 89 and some would say that he lived a long life, but I would dare to say that 89 is far from the 120 years that the Bible says that we could live. That is 31 years shy of the promise given to man! Steve Jobs was 56 and that is only the second quarter of life according to the biblical principle of life.
These two men have left a great blueprint and example for us to follow. They discovered what their passion and maximized it by utilizing the Law of Productivity. According to Gen 1:28, And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. These great men left their mark on the world by living to produce and staying in the arena of working in their passion.
My life is all about building healthy relationships, making meaningful connections, and leaving a legacy for the future that my family and the world could benefit from. In essence, my life is all about living to produce.
Every day is a great day to enjoy... Never think that it’s just another day because it is not promised. Enjoy the day by springing up and into your potential/purpose. Live life on purpose and by design. ~ Dr. Vernet Joseph
Every morning when you wake up ask yourself will I react or respond to the test, trials, and temptations in life? When you react you reveal that you weren't prepared, but when you respond it shows that you have been diligent in being a student of productivity. ~ Dr. V.A. Joseph
The death of these two pioneers has truly sent a sound blast heard around the world. It has rocked, sorrowed, motivated, and even inspired many to start living to produce. It is my hope that we all learn from their deaths and become even more productive people living life by design and on purpose. Be an agent of change in your family, community, and nation.
